As the title explains, this announcement - well, it really isn't an announcement, but I'd like everybody to be aware of it - is about the layout of our site. More exactly about the background, a vary of gradients and then the dark green column that's supposed to run down the middle of the boards.
Well, for me personally, the layout on my home computer (until today, including the starting day of building the site, I was on a laptop at the cottage) is completey screwing up, and it looks horrible. ;.;
I'm wanting to know what the layout is looking like on all of your computers/laptops! I'm quite sure the pattern is supposed to be light-dark-light-dark-light-boards-light-dark-light-dark-light, but that's pretty big and it might not fit your computer. (light-dark-etc is the order of the green gradients) :x SO: Please post below what the backgound looks like on your computer, for, if for the grand majority it isn't like what I just said above, we're probably going to switch back to a solid green background again.
And in case any of you were wondering, the laptop on which I made the layout and it looked all good was 1040x1400. :3 That might work and switch the layout around a bit, so I'm going to try that on my computer as soon as I post this.
Happy roleplaying! <3

Okay, conformation: Switch to 1040x1400 on a [regular?] 768x1024 computer and the layout WORKS, but the text is an EXTREEEME strain to read. Your pick.

I've got an AOL browser which pretty much fudges everything. x; All the gradients on the left show up, but the last dark and light are under the boards, which actually doesn't look too bad. Only the first light and dark gradients show up on the right side, but that's not too bad either. EDIT: My computer can't go to up to that high of a resolution. Poor old crumbucket.

Well, for the gradient on mine, the pattern stops where the 'play' button is for the affiliates on the bottom, then it's all darker green. Then, of course, the green of the boards goes over it.
I hadn't really noticed until you pointed it out...

For me, the center thing is about a centimeter too much to the right, which really bothers me.

Patterns for me work great as long as I expand it to where the center solid and the site stuff line up I am around 1200 screen width so I still have a good 4 inches of screen left over but that also means for people with the average size screen that it probably wont work for them.
Well my screen resolution is set at 1680x1050 at 60hz because my monitor is a giganto flat screen because of Photoshop i got a huge one.... we also have screens like that at the studio soo its my permanent resolution. But for the average resolution 1024x768 the bkg gradients should be made around 1023-17(about)x30 if its a repeating pattern like the one you have.
If you make it a 30 for height you save file space and upload time as well since you have a consistent repeating pattern there is no need to make it any taller.
e d i t // I think what it maybe is that you just made the boarder gradients to wide... but then stuff expands on this screen sooo I am not really to sure.
e d i t a g a i n// i use and have ie 7 or 8? as well as FireFox and Netscape. It works best on ie for me for your site. Now that i look at it on FireFox and Netscape (both set at 1024x768) i can only see the left gradient and the solid center x.x soo i am pretty sure the background is just too wide and beacuse at my house we can only get Dial-up (DSL is 1 miles away *cries* ..in the dead zone) its took awhile for the bkg to show up but at the studio we have a 600k connection beacuse we own a server in studio and one on the East coast it shows up lickity split. Gah [goes to live at the studio]

Alright, I'm going to reply to all of your responses. Just... because. :3
Swampy: Lucky you, it works - sort of. Still, it must look a bit lop-sided... Mm, well, not much problem for you. xD
Jump High: xD Interesting combo. Still lopsided for you too, I guess... heheh. Not working, eh? D;
Ronin: You have the same computer width as meeee~! I know what you mean. Well, seeing it right in the face, as I'm posting, it doesn't look too good with the rest of the site. :x
Timeless: When I was making the background, I had done that, and I had fixed it so it was equal. Your width must me one choice above or below the 1040x1400... :/ Don't worry, it'll be fixed soon.
Darcy: Wow, that's a big screen. oo' I bet some of the gradients repeat themselves, then...? And gaah D: Dial-up. And ooh, that reminds me... When I was making the background, I was on old IE, and now I'm back on firefox. These computers are so differeeeent ;.; Sure, I'll make it 30 px when I make the new background.
Vi: Thanks for giving the option, but we don't need a whole skin, just the background. <3
---
OKAY. NEW PLAN.
After this post, I'm going to make a new background... One with gradients across the whole page. They will be bigger and more spread out, but of the same colours and there will be no solid green column running down your screen (who knows where -.-). I'll keep the links for both the current background and this new one, so if you don't like the new one, you can just comment on this thread , and if enough people don't like it, we can change it back.
